2022 Holiday Gift Guides Day 11 - “Moms”
As we near the end of the “12 Days of Gift Guides” it’s sort of fitting that the list for Moms is almost last. Moms are the last ones to be in pictures, the last ones to eat dinner, and sometimes the last ones to bed. All the more reason to make them first on your priority list for the holidays. (I’m a Mom so I can say this with absolute authority.)
The typical gifts for Moms are candles and wine and ROBES blah blah cliché. There’s a little of that in here but also the item your murder-podast loving Mom would die for (pun intended), the perfect solution for the pandemic weary Mom who needs a mental reset, and much more.
Remember when we talked about giving teachers money and if you gift them anything else, it should be in addition? Well, the same principle holds true for Moms but instead of money give the priceless gift of TIME to Moms. The freedom to do nothing for a minute and not feel guilty about it. Moms are bone tired and if they’re like me, they are deep into revenge procrastination - that is, the art of staying up way later than they should to enjoy a little luxury of free time in the wee hours of the night because that’s the only available window in the day that can be found. Happy holidays, Moms. I see you!
GIFT GUIDE DAY 11: MOMS
Moms are on their feet all day long so give them the gift of cute shoes that are super comfy. Birdie’s Starling Shoes are hands down the most comfy shoes I’ve ever owned. They come in a ton of colors but it’s honestly like wearing slippers while you’re out and about.
My favorite item: The Boden Sweatshirt. It’s easy to wash when your kids undoubtedly get their dirty paws on you but also fun enough to wear out without feeling schlubby in a sweatshirt! If styles are sold out check back — they sell out quickly and restock in fun prints.
Did you know women get dehydrated faster than men? Of course. So time to replace Mom’s crusty water bottle she’s been using since her first baby with an upgrade. My aunt gifted me an Owala water bottle and it’s my favorite yet. It truly keeps ice water still icy overnight and holds a ton. I have the 32-oz which I like for quantity but the 24-oz is more likely to fit in that car cup holder, FYI!
Eberjey Pajamas + Loungewear. Specifically - this slouchy PJ set which a few of my Mom friends SWEAR by as the best pajamas ever.
I want to call this a “Bathtime Wine Vessel” because it’s risky business putting a glass on the edge of the tub. This tray can hold vino plus a tablet for an indulgent reality show binge. How else do you relax in 2022?
Don’t have a tub? Try throwing some of these in Mom’s stocking. They are lavender shower steamers that work in a tub OR a shower.
I know a very (perhaps alarming) large number of Moms who love a good “murder podcast.” For the true crime junkie in your life, I can’t stress how accurate this sweatshirt is!
Send Mom on a Trip. Yup - send her away from her family. It’s been a ROUGH few years for Moms and they need A BREAK. (Please note the caps for underscoring of the desperation.) Since Mom likely has the family schedule figured out, maybe you let her pick the dates and her company of choice (other Mom friends, obv) but you handle everything else — picking up the tab. The most important part of this is just to say “yes” to every question Mom asks. Is Mom in need of a little extra TLC and could use a little more restorative support than just a change of scenery? See if she might want to visit a wellness resort like Canyon Ranch, Yovan, etc. The programs can offer help with curative therapies as well as health programs for managing everything from depression and stress management to insomnia management.
Get Mom fresh flowers every month of the year by gifting her a BloomsyBox subscription from the New York Botanical Gardens. A percentage of each purchase supports NYBG’s work in plant science and conservation.
Is Mom’s first born a pooch who needs some special consideration? BloomsyBox also offers a pet safe subscription!
