2022 Holiday Gift Guides: Day 12 - Everyone Else!
After nearly two weeks of Gift Guides, the final guide is a compilation of all the miscellaneous categories I didn’t cover that you requested. From babysitters to neighbors to awkward tweens and navigating those dicey multigenerational holiday gatherings, there’s a little bit of something for everyone.
Wishing you all a joyous holiday season ahead full of lots of discounts, Black Friday deals and, ultimately, a stress-free shopping experience. I hope these lists have helped inspire and simplify the art of sourcing presents for those you love so you can give them the gift they’ll never ask for but want the most — the joy of your presence. Happiest holidays, friends!
GIFT GUIDE DAY 12: EVERYONE ELSE
My Life Story So Far - Give the gift of sharing grandparents’ life stories with your kids by having them fill out their autobiography complete with prompts for memories, stories + wisdom.
Show your sweet side by sending your in-laws a set of three chocolate babkas from Bread’s Bakery — hand’s down the most delicious treat they’ll ever enjoy.
Honor your adventures together by gifting them this handmade, one-of-a-kind piece of art that masterfully uses maps from places you’ve visited to create a beautiful composition.
Tweens are the stars of their own show so double down on that and gift them their own incredibly customizable neon sign for their room. It’s is available in a range of fonts, colors and styles. The hardest part will be figuring out what they like long enough to make a choice.
It would be unrealistic for me to have a useful suggestion for this category because I am not currently a dog owner. HOWEVER, I am an expert in extra and somehow landed on the catalogue list for this company that makes the cuuuuuuuuutest collars and leashes. Perhaps your pup would like a little holiday swag to jingle into the new year?
Years ago I worked with the Kohler company for work and, being the hospitable company that they are, they gifted visitors their famous Terrapin chocolates. Friends, these are so delicious your neighbor will never complain about anything again.
Other great local options: A gift card to a local restaurant or a donation in their name to a nonprofit in town that’s meaningful to them.
If this is a date night babysitter, just go for the Gift Card to Amazon. But if this is a person who’s regularly contributing to your home and an integral part of your family, give them a gift that reflects that like a curated mini album of memories from the past year made via Mixbook. If the kids are old enough, have them write their own reflections in a mini book about gratitude.
Gift them a new calendar with treasured childhood photos for them to look back on and enjoy throughout the year.
Bonus: If they’re also now grandparents, try to find pics of yourself that mirror your own kids and show them side by side.
Don’t gift a spoiled kid an object. They need to create memories rich with experiences. Consider a membership to a local museum or zoo. Or, a gift that fosters their learning but also provides a fun outlet like a magazine subscription like Highlights, The Week, Ranger Rick.
If they have all those things too, here’s one they probably don’t have — a build-a-snowman kit!
Gift yourself some holiday survival tools to navigate family dynamics.
It’s been a rough time for families these past few holidays avoiding sensitive topics like politics and vaccines.
Drive some laughs with the Boomers v. Millenials card game and reunite by figuring out who really knows each other best.
